Legislation
- Fire Precautions Act 1971
The
requirement to install and have maintained portable fire extinguishers
falls primarily under the Fire Precautions Act 1971, with subsequent
acts accumulating into the Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations
1997. The Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations 1997 introduced
the requirement for fighting a fire and maintaining of equipment
used for that purpose.
